Cookie Policy
Last updated: September 1, 2026
The short version: Tappa uses only strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and secure. We don't run ads or track you across other sites. Analytics and marketing cookies are off by default and only ever run if you allow them.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Firebase auth session | Google Firebase | Keeps you signed in to your Tappa account. | Session / up to 1 year |
| reCAPTCHA (_GRECAPTCHA) | Protects forms and sign-in from bots and abuse. | Up to 6 months | |
| tappa_ref | Tappa | Remembers a referral code so credit is attributed correctly. | Up to 30 days |
| tappa_consent | Tappa | Stores your cookie choices so we don't ask again. | Up to 1 year |
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include local storage and session storage. They let a site remember your actions and preferences (such as staying signed in) and help keep it secure.
This policy explains which cookies tappa.me uses, why, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
2. The cookies we use
Today, tappa.me uses only strictly necessary cookies and local storage: to keep you signed in, to secure forms with Google reCAPTCHA, to remember a referral code, and to store your cookie choices. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking pixels, and we do not sell your data.
3. Cookie categories
Strictly necessary (always on): required for the site to work, sign you in, and keep it secure. These cannot be switched off.
Analytics (opt-in, off by default): would help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it. We do not use analytics cookies today; if we introduce them, they will run only after you allow them.
Marketing (opt-in, off by default): would support measuring campaigns or personalised promotions. We do not use marketing cookies today; if we introduce them, they will run only after you allow them.
4. Managing your preferences
You can change your choices at any time using the "Cookie preferences" control below or in the site footer. Because analytics and marketing are off by default, you never have to do anything to avoid non-essential cookies.
You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site (such as staying signed in) from working.
5. Third parties
Some strictly necessary cookies are set by trusted providers that power core features: Google Firebase (authentication) and Google reCAPTCHA (bot protection). These providers process data as described in our Privacy Policy. Payments are handled off-site by Paystack, which may set its own cookies on its own pages.
6. Changes and contact
We may update this Cookie Policy as the site evolves, for example if we introduce analytics. The "Last updated" date below reflects the latest revision. Questions can be sent to fixit@tappa.me or via tappa.me/contact.
